“Every time I have lunch in the the Grill Room of the Four Seasons, where the power in New York gathers each noontime, I can always pick out the Alan Flusser suits as their wearers walk into the room.”

It’s been a few years since the writer Dominick Dunne made this observation, and a lot has changed — not the least of which being the address of New York’s high temple of power dining, which has reopened in vast new digs on Park Avenue, a stone’s throw from our own. Much remains the same, however — Four Seasons co-owner Alex von Bidder will still greet old friends and young newcomers wearing our clothes, as he has done since 1986. He just might not bother with a tie so often.

Just as this new venue reflects today’s appetite for lighter fare served in a more relaxed atmosphere, so too is our custom clothing tailored to more casual tastes. But don’t confuse informality with sloppiness: the absence of a tie in an open-collar ensemble only renders exquisite cut and detailing in one’s clothes that much more important.

We present here a few of our more breezily de-constructed new looks amid the construction site that will soon be New York’s finest dining. While a departure from the swashbuckling Flusser suits of yore, their cool, in-the-chips smartness should carry the day (or night) at any of Gotham’s style-high eateries.
