Alan Flusser Exclusives: Custom Cloth at a Made-to-Measure Price (Part II: Jacketing)

By Andrew Yamato

Last week we introduced our remaining stock of Alan Flusser Exclusive suiting fabrics, created by Alan with Luciano Barbera and woven at the Carlo Barbera mill in Biella, Italy. Today we turn to the bolder patterns Alan created for his signature jacketings. While supply lasts, all of these custom quality cloths are now being offered as made-to-measure options (or at a discount for custom clients).

Country Plaid Tweed

This rich 11 oz woolen is Alan’s personal favorite because it perfectly embodies one his central goals of textile design: the appearance and performance of traditional English cloth, but rendered in a much lighter weight by the latest Italian textile technology. It essentially has the look of tweed but the feel of flannel. Brown and green also happens to be one of Alan’s favorite color pairings, combined here in an plaid over a rich caramel field. Perfect for a three-piece suit or any element of one.

Forest Green Windowpane

Alan has always believed that sophisticated greens like this one — complementary to most complexions and easy to wear with almost any trouser — are woefully underrepresented in men’s wardrobes. The blue-grey overplaid of this 10 oz wool flannel plays perfectly with either blue jeans or grey flannels, and the pomegranate plaid adds just the right dash of warm contrast without making the cloth too seasonal.

Navy with Red Overplaid

Alan conceived of this 10½ oz flannel as an alternative navy blazer. Its subtle, abstracted glen plaid offers considerably greater depth and visual interest while remaining as easy and versatile to wear as its solid navy cousin. Like any blazer, it can be finished with brass or gunmetal buttons for a blue-blooded Anglo look, or horn buttons for a more casually Italian effect.
