Greetings from the Custom-Shop-At-Home. Like most of the world, for the past two months we have been sidelined. However, having survived 9/11 and the 2008 financial crisis, we can attest that even a health scourge of this magnitude will not sidetrack one’s sartorial ambitions forever. People look forward to bouncing back from adversity and we hope to be a part of that springboard. We are finally heading into Spring here in New York City, albeit a stranger one than ever. As our typical approach of making up sample garments and photographing them for a seasonal lookbook was disrupted, we’re excited to share our illustrated rendition of the garments we want to be wearing this Summer, courtesy of our friend Tug Rice.
While the elements will look familiar, each is a technological advancement upon a classic cloth. The performance and feel embody all the ventilating and sporty virtues of linen without the wrinkling – easy wearing and dare we say, therapeutic. It’s an ensemble of informal chic and versatility, featuring our featherweight wool and silk seersucker jacketing, now finally available in the classic stripe pattern. We’ve paired it with a lightweight tropical wool tan trouser whose mottled surface mirrors that of the famed West of England flannel and a jaunty chambray-like shirting with a slubby texture reminiscent of silk dupioni.
Like the quarterback who passes the football ahead of the receiver to help him catch it in stride, we hope it’s an antidote to buck the temperature’s inevitable climb. The prospect of slipping into the height of casual luxury, hand-tailored from Italy’s latest in air-conducting weavings, might be just the “sartorial shot in the arm” needed to buttress the next few months where going without becomes the new normal.
The jacket and trousers are available in both made-to-measure and custom. We’re happy to dispatch swatches if you’d like to have a closer look. Email us here.
