We have been making jackets from knitted fabrics for six years now. They are lovely to wear, combining the shape of a tailored jacket with the drape of a great sweater. As a majority of us are dressing more casually in and out of the workplace, this type of tailored clothing fills an obvious need – a way to look elegant and put-together without looking at all fussy, while remaining supremely comfortable.
This Fall we are pleased to offer a new range of luxurious knitted fabrics in pure cashmere and cashmere/silk blends. This extensive jersey collection by Loro Piana contains a wide range of designs, including herringbone, houndstooth, and a plethora of solids. I was so impressed with the brown herringbone cashmere and silk that I took stock of a 30-yard piece to be sure we avoid the risk of Loro Piana selling out before season's end. The slate-brown color is flattering for a majority of complexions, and the supple blend of cashmere and silk is simply a dream to wear. Moreover, the rich texture of the herringbone closely resembles a traditional woven fabric, which makes it a great candidate for a traditional sportcoat model for those who like to stick with the classics. Of course, we are also keen on this for our unconstructed slack jacket – the original and most popular model for jersey fabrics.
Below, some images of this brown cashmere and silk houndstooth, as well a few other favorites from the collection.
